4 Types of Filter Presses: A Comparison

By Michael Stock

In families there are certain commonalities that can be found within its members. This is no different with the members of our filter press family. Some of these common features include:

  • heavy-duty carbon steel frames
  • sturdy filter plates and cloths
  • efficient controls and plate shifting

There are also a variety of features that make each of our 4 types of filter presses unique. These features allow you to find a press that perfectly meets your dewatering needs, whether you are operating a cider mill dewatering 25 gallons of slurry a day or a large mining operation dewatering 1,000,000 gallons of slurry. To learn about the different features of our filter presses, take a look at the chart below.

Best Suited Applications
Our small capacity presses are well suited for facilities that do a small amount of dewatering. These presses are a good fit for facilities that have large amounts of slurry to dewater or need a press that runs frequently. Overhead presses are also a great option  for facilities that have large amounts of slurry to dewater or need a press that runs frequently. Since overhead presses have a heavy duty frame construction, they have a 40% longer life than a sidebar press. Their frame design also provides easier access to filter plates and cloths.  The MC Press® filter press is specially tailored for use in the mining industry.
